Mother's Day of a Quilter.

Today is a wonderful day to say:  Happy Mother's Day to all mothers, even if the mother is your child who has children.

Today is starting out overcast, nice temp in the mid 60's and to clear and warm up in the afternoon..
just a nice cozy, slow to awaken day.. very relaxed, comfortable.

As I work thru the piles of projects I have awaiting me, I wonder what I was doing, what was happening at that time, the family, economy, health and so on at that time.

I wonder what costs were then,  certainly lower than the fabrics of today are.  Many seem to have doubled overnight in cost.

Here in NC there is a lot of cotton crops, yet much of our cotton comes from overseas??  And they ship ours overseas??  Sort of an Oxymoron situation?

Today seems to be one of ponderings.  That is ok, we all need to slow down and ponder more.

The quilt I am working on right now is called a Carpenter's Star, a simple pattern, yet looks so
difficult.

I am selling quilts made of this style around  twin size.  Premade at this time, later on I will be taking color choices, as well as premade.   Selling these will help buy the batting, the puffy stuff that goes between the top and back.  Nearly all go to either QoV or other community orgs. that need help for
their victims.

May all have a wonderful, healthy and safe holiday weekend, and on from there.

God Bless

Wed. May  15.

I am still working on the Carpenter's Star.   Just taking it easy, not hurrying or rushing.  It is quite enjoyable.

It seems the season has passed for any flowers in our yard, showing colors.   I love color and there must be some pretty flowers that don't take a multitude of tasks to keep them looking good and blooming, yet aren't going to take over the yard.   Maybe some petunias?

It was hot today.. We had to travel 30 miles south for an appt. at 11:45, then on the way back we stopped at a diner we like,  for some lunch, and home in time to make an appt. here in town at 2:00.

The next several days will be quite warm, so no outdoors activities planned.

This will be a great time for quilting reflections, quilts finished, given to community service organizations and some plans for the future projects.

Piecing quilt tops will be another good project.. they will be needed all too soon.

Another time, same place.
