Today is going to be a typical Saturday.. don't do much away from the home, some laundry, some cleaning and of course Quilting.
The night was cool, down into the low 40's, nice for sleeping, and supposed to near the mid 70's during the day. It would be so nice to be outside, going fishing, or just pulling weeds. High humidity prevents anything outdoors, and so does the pine pollen.. Too hard to breathe.
I'm nearing the end of the Carpenter's Star quilt that was pieced earlier this month. I'm thinking it is going to be nice, and my best effort at freehand quilting for where I am now. Not nearly as good as
it once was so working to improve.
I will be doing some computer guided quilting probably this afternoon. This will be the second
using the computer. Some times it is easier to do things by hand.. like stitch in the ditch.. where the
stitching is supposed to be hidden in the seam line between two blocks.
I really think I would like to post hints and tips about quilting, from selecting the pattern to selecting the fabric, or selecting the fabric then finding a pattern, which seems to be harder, in all but the Quilts of Valor.
Quilts of Valor are given to any ill or wounded veteran or present day illnesses or injuries. Illnesses seem to be from the Vietnam War and Agent Orange, some from the Gulf war. Doesn't seem to be happening that much now, and we can thank our Lord for that. Maybe the foe's realized it could be returned in a more widespread way ( by the USA and other countries that suffered so many losses/illnesses) that it could wipe out their whole army and many others, so no one to fight invasions or invade other country's. Smart thinking and too late for helping our soldiers. I know two people that were agent orange victims and they have both died.
Breaks from the long-arm quilting will be spent attaching bindings on the back of otherwise finished quilts. That stack is quite high.
Others others need the binding put on both front and back. Still another pile of tops and backings that need to be labeled, quilted and bound. Always lots more to start and finish.
Off to start my working day, quilting, cleaning and helping with the laundry.
Prayers you have a good day, prayers and good thoughts are so badly needed
for the victims of the tornado's.
