June 26, 2013

Today is a good day.  Sky is mostly cloudy, though not as dismal as yesterday.  Much more light.

We had a few drips last night, but nothing compared to rains of last couple weeks.

The Quilt Guild I am in has a special project to bring attention to our Quilt Show this fall.

We also have a raffle quilt, that will be given to the right ticket holder at the Quilt Show.

Trying to post pictures of both is not happening.
The sign says

Progress is being made on  the potato beads,  probably by tomorrow some will  be ready  to seal well, and then put into necklace and/or ear rings.  Looking good so far.

Work on more of the shraggedy quilts, is going to happen soon.  Getting the batting scrap crate so full it is nearly too much for the lid to fit.  Many many  pieces  that would otherwise go to waste, and a cutter template that cuts the fringe right in the fabric, so it doesn't have to be cut by hand makes it be a fast and fun, and fruitful project.  So many folks who are down and out, so deserve something to snuggle in, so I make and give all the quilts away.  Fabric prices are getting so high, I won't be able to buy much any more. .

We also found another use for so many of the plain precut squares we were given,  It makes me happy to find a good use for them, also.

The poor avacado tree, is looking pretty sad, at least the leaves aren't hanging straight down as they were before, which is encouraging.  It was probably getting drown with all the rain we've had.

The tomatoes are looking good, as though they are thankful to get out of those little pots.. quite perky and taking right off.  They like the partly sunny days to get acclimated.

Potatos are still thriving.  Waiting for a crop to harvest can be a long time, then suddenly it is here, then gone again.  It can also be quite exciting.  Fresh from the garden or the Co-Op produce that is picked the same day we get it, makes for a much tastier meal than store bought.  Stores do their best, they have totally different circumstances than the farmer or home gardener does so of course they can't get as fresh produce as the others.

Fabric is wonderful to feel, most kinds but  not the rough stuff that looks like a shrunken brulap bag.  I love the smoothness, the silky, the sturdy, the handy kinds for aprons and quilts as well as voile, velvet, silk, etc.  So pretty.

The more sun there is makes the fabrics brighter in the natural light.   I have several shades of most  colors and several more shades of each. Many colors and shades of each are necessary to make the best selections for quilts.

Today is going to be spent on several projects, making the new leaders,  piecing more on a quilt top, Embroidering initials on some things I need, and the beads.  LOL, the energy may get me through the leaders and very little more.  Shall see just what I do get done and how long each takes to finish.

My thoughts ramble.

Have a wonderful day,   enjoy the weather,
relax at the job, feel comfort at home,
and God Bless.
