We've been so busy trying to finish up 2 quilts that only need quilting and binding, that I didn't even have time to remember the blog yesterday, and with the phone calls, many of them, it was only more hectic.
The lost quilt has been found.. the one we lost that was in progress for the show, October 18-19, Sanford NC. It was in sort of a semirigid sided little basket thingie that many carry their yarn in for knitting. It had a small binder clip on it to hold the handles closed, instead of having to work just to close and pick up. Good idea for carrying, not for finding contents.
It is further along than I remembered, which is a good thing. The large pieced border is being attached, and dang-it-all, the quilt is not nearly as large as we thought. A generous double is what it looks to be, and it was supposed to fit our queen sized bed. Maybe if I add a wide quilted piece around, it will fit.
Yesterday was so gorgeous out. Mid 70's, a very gentle breeze now and then. Our Chestnut tree is nearly done shedding and other trees are beginning to show that hint of gold in their leaves that fall brings. It feels so very pretty. Fishing is so heavy on my mind, and we don't have a spare minute.
The Sandhills Farm to Table Co-op also has fall mums on sale. 3 pink and 2 yellow are on order. Should look pretty out doors, in one of the gardens.
We need something to make this place look like someone cares. I can't get out and do much in gardening and Himself is just not a gardener. Between the two of us, we manage to get a few things done. I can hardly wait until spring when the new iris I was given should bloom along with all the other flowers we put in, the tulips, the hyacinth, the daffy's, etc. It is going to be so pretty.
the iris is going to be especially pretty with all colors, and one is just plain gorgeous. Spring color is all we have.. the deer eat the 4 o'clock blooms off as soon as they open, and so far have done a wonderful job of eating everything else but for the rose and the hydrangia.
The Quilt of Valor is so pretty.. I'm anxious to get it done. now that I have the Castle Ruler that DeLoa Jones designed and sells, It will make short work of most of the stitch in the ditch work I have to do. Her Little One, a another of her machine quilting rulers, almost became permanently attached to my hand. So handy as a hopping foot guide when quilting on a long-arm machine.
The old wood burning stove we took out, is up for sale. Getting calls about that. We hate to see the stove sit outdoors and get rusty. So far there's been very little rust and thats from rain splatter . The sofa for sale has only drawn spam.
The quilting services are not getting any bites.. advertized for making T-Shirt Quilts and pricing included batting and quilting, and it was too pricy for all of them.
I will be taking a picture of the QoV, as it goes on the frame.. The QoV I am so proud of at this point. Not my usual traditional style, so it makes one feel good to have it come out so nicely.
I'm hoping to do the same for the N.C. State Wolfpack quilt. I really want to get it done.
Speaking of photo's, I'm trying to move all my picts to a flicker account, and of course computers and I just don't talk the same language at times, and this is one of those times.
We took out the extended table we'd attached to the back of the sewing table for my dsm, so I have about 20" more floor space in the quilt room. It just wasn't used enough to warrant keeping it bigger., and the floor space is needed.
Off to take care of todays duties, household and quilting..
Have a day that is just right for you!
