June 12
A beautiful day out. Sunshine, clear skies and it's to be hot.
Not even a hint of a breeze.
Staying home gives us a good chance at staying cool.
Quilting is on my schedule for today. That makes a day good
without having to seek intertainment. Cant stand being lazy.
I need to get more labels made. I didn't reach the goal of 100
the last time I worked on them.
Raspberries are starting to ripen. A screen enclosure was
put up to keep the deer and birds out. They love those berries!
The process to make a quilt includes wear and tear on the car
cost of gas, our time going shopping,
for the fabrics for the back, and then the fabrics to piece
the top which can be two colors,
or as many as 16 or more different fabrics. Then the
the time to wash, press the fabric, then in cutting out and
time to piece or sew the fabrics together in a pattern into
quilt top.. then have a label made, and the fabric used to
make a binding and have it cut, miter the pieces together.
The added cost of the permanent ink pen to write on
the label, and use of the machines, then the two very
important steps selecting the thread colors for top and
bottom, threading and lube the machine if it needs it,
and finally for the joy of quilting, it is nearly ready to
quilt.
To get the quilt on the frame of the machine table, there
are things or strips of fabric that go onto the roller, and
the other side of it is where the quilt is fastened.
This has to be done at both ends. Then we have to get
the batting adjusted to where it needs to be, and get the
quilt top on top of that.
