October 21, 2013 Monday.
Thank goodness we will be able to get some rest this week.
The quilt show is over and was, I think, a success.
I got chewed out because I told a couple if they wanted a real good machine, check in with APQS.
We were right beside another long arm booth, who really got Mad and verbally gave the show boss
a lot of guff about it, beings I was a quilt guild member. I guess we aren't to give our opinions,
if we are guild members. Or they can't take the competition.
She claims she had an APQS and didn't like it because it just didn't work right, then she found the
best machine. Hmmm sure is news to me as I've seen so many of them being sold
so they could get the APQS machine.
I did find some fabrics in the very soft pastel colors to make a baby quilt and another one for the gal
who has been sort of our Mom, since Roland's Mom died, back in 1986. We made and sent her a
bright quilt, then found out she likes soft things, most things. Pale or Pastel is the way I was told
much later.
We made it through theQuilt Show. We helped set-up and then worked the fair booth for two days,
selling raffle tickets for the two big door prizes, no one in our guild won either. Then separately
another raffle item, one of our guild members who just moved into her apt., her first real home here
in NC, won the raffle quilt. Shes just starting out again on furnishing and maintaining her home.
Sitting in a chair 4 hours per day isn't my idea of relaxing. I had to use my Go-Go mobility cart,
both days.. not fun when the seat leaves my legs and hips hurting.
We did sell a lot of tickets, in our 4 shifts in the booth, for the two raffle baskets.
I was so glad to see Quilts of Valor Co-ordinators at the show.. glad to know we have them again.
Well I have 3 fleece quilts to get finished before Sat. when the Habitat For Humanities will be
dedicating the last house, one that was so badly wrecked inside, they wouldn't even let them use
the same facilities in the bathroom, meaning a tub/shower, sink and toilet. New cupboards, new
cabinets and sink, stove and fridge. So SAD anyone can destroy the whole interior, the flooring,
carpet, walls. The only thing they didn't do was break out the windows. No one who saw it,
could figure out how someone could live in that filth, feeces, urine, left over food thrown at the
walls, and so one. The H4H crew found it hard to work until everything was taken out...and the
smells were eliminated.
Since I got the Side Saddle computer for my APQS Long arm, I can pick a pattern for the
fleece tops, and let the Side Saddle do the work. My job then is to be putting things away where
they belong. then dream a bit..and finish the bindings on the quilts that need them. All three
quilts will be made of 2 layers of fleece. Nice and Warm
the day is moving faster than I am, dark is upon us, so, until then.
