We are waking up to a mighty cold morning, cold for us that is in central NC. Only 4F.. for us, that is cold.
We did get snow on Wednesday.. about 2-3". It's been so cold it's not melting.. only got up to 34F yesterday, So pretty to see. We have to go out and throw seed for the birds. Poor little things can't get under the snow that is deeper than most of them are tall. Squirrels are staying in their nests. We have to keep breaking the ice for the birds, too.
I've been playing with dyeing fabrics.. It is so much fun and you can get the strangest patterns and color combo's.
Dharma Trading has the powdered Procion MX, the Retayne and the Soda Ash. We got the soda ash from the pool supply. Our Walmart doesn't carry it, or other pool chemicals.
I will see if I can post a couple picts.. showing the good, the bad and the ugly before and aft. lol
This one is the bad,
This one is the ugly. Maybe a keeper
Once I get some Retayne, I will be dyeing more. It is a blast..
Most fun I've had in a good long while.
Overdyeing is another technique I'm trying. That is redyeing the fabric in another color, usually darker than it already is. No idea what it would be like to dye it something like yellow to change the colors.. might be barfy.
Quilting has not come to a stop.. I'm keeping at it, and having fun. Need to finish the QoV that is on the frame. I am going to ask her if she minds me posting a pict on my blog and a couple of other sites I visit.
I really wanted to go up to Statesville to the show and meet up with the lady that pieced the quilt, but road conditions are bad, and folks who are getting snow-scraped out will be clogging the highways..
I'm glad we got a few groceries ahead so we don't have to get out in it.Himself and I are both forgetting the QoV group that meets at Loving Stitches.. one Sun. a month to do nothing but sew on QoV quilts.. We keep forgetting to ask if it is on the first or third Sun. Having said that, I will post a note to call them today, as well as the pain clinic and my Dr. lol , such is life when we get old.
Himself put a mouse trap up in the attic. Maybe he caught something. No evidence of a mouse down here in the house.
Nice insulated boots when going out to throw the bird seed, are a blessing.. The boots were kept for a good reason.
Quilting and seed for the birds are calling.. and the day is just about ready to start.
Have a blessed one.
